I would like to write something about our famous Malaysian celebrity “Datuk Siti Nurhaliza” who has won two tickets to attend the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Most of Malaysian are still talking about this issue, so I would like to take a chance to comment a little bit on this.
The most comment that I heard are about what she wore on that day. The dress that she wore is the one that I post on the above picture which was designed by Malaysian most famous designer ” Bernard Chandran” also few ideas came from Siti herself and Datuk Khalid. In the beginning, she told the press that she is going to wear a traditional blouse called “kebaya” but what she wore on that day didn’t even look close to what Malaysian called “kebaya”. Most of Malaysian said that the blouse that she wore is kinda ugly and did not represent our Malaysian culture at all. Besides, it was kinda not suitable for the occasion as well. Datuk Siti has promised Malaysian that she will wear a traditional blouse to the Grammy which I don’t really care about that but most of her fans or Malaysian wanted her to keep her promises to them but she did not. What a pity!
Another comment that I heard was about her English Language. Well, my English is not that awesome but most Malaysian felt anxious to know that she will be using English while interviewing or be interviewed at the Grammy. From my point of view, she should definitely speak English at that event coz she had attended English Language lessons years back and this is the time for her to prove that she can of course speaks English.
I am writing about her English not to condemn her but Malaysian keep on making fun of her on what she had done or said in the past. It was something about ‘tea in a cup’, ‘dimples’ etc. But at least she has achieved a lot in the past 10 years and now she is considered as a Millionaire and also happily married to Datuk Khalid. So, if I were Datuk Siti, I would be satisfied for what I have achieved at this stage, I guess.
Have you ever heard of the proverb where the kettle called the pot black? Pardon my bluntness, but it seems odd that someone like you, who tries, but clearly do not master the English language, should post a comment about Siti Nurhaliza’s English. Yours is no better.
Perhaps you should get some lessons too, so as not to embarrass any of your countrymen and fellow bloggers.
Watch those tenses and your grammar, and I’m sure you’ll go a long way to realize the slogan that “Malaysia Boleh”.
No hard feelings, but a dose of reality and advice surely cannot hurt you.

er… juanita, i think it’s the other way round: the pot calling the kettle black.
From what I understand of the blogger’s comment, the blogger did not condemn Siti because of her English language level. But all the blogger said was, quote, “Malaysians keep on making fun of her on what she had done or said in the past.” Besides, in my view, the blogger does realize his/her own weakness in the language, thus did not pass any judgment on Siti’s English language level. If your comment was based on the blogger’s comment about Siti speaking English at the Grammy’s which happens to be an international event, I think it is only right that she should speak English, but that does not mean that her spoken English has to be perfect.

kenapa la orang dengki dengan datuk siti ni? walaupun datuk siti cuma spm pangkat 2 sahaja tapi sekarang dia bergelar datuk, jutawan pulak tu. bukannya datuk siti tak nak sambung belajar. masa dia mohon nak sambung ke stpm, tak ada sekolah yang nak terima sebab masa tu dia dah glamer, takut media buat kacau kat sekolah.
apa2 pun saya tak sokong muzik/artis. dengar orang mengaji Quran lagi bagus.. semoga datuk siti yang jutawan itu hidup aman tenteram dengan hasil titik peluhnya sendiri…
